Golden Award Presentation to the Weavers
The Weavers in Strathaven is recognised for standing the test of time.
A group of branch members made the trip to South Lanarkshire to celebrate the presentation of CAMRA's Golden Award to the Weavers in Strathaven. In making the presentation local branch memeber Tom McKeown mentioned the pub's continuous presence of over 20 years in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide, its many wins of the Lanarkshire Pub of the Year and its commitment to customers. We believe the Weavers was the only pub in Scotland to sell cask ale during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 (through Brendan Smith's phone order / take-away service) which was much appreciated by the beer loving customers. Tom also reflected on the community spirit which surrounds a good pub and this was echoed by Maureen Campbell on receiving the award. She was thankful for the loyalty of her customers, many of whom joined in the celebration on the day. The presentation was preceded with a rendition of "Scotland the Brave" by Chirs McKenzie of the Strathaven & District Pipe Band, one of many community organisations that use the Weavers as their meeting place.
