It could (and should be!) argued that CAMRA members have actually physically paid for their £30 of vouchers with their £30.50 annual subscription, that would eliminate the argument that we are getting 50p off our pints and breaching minimum unit pricing.

Notwithstanding the common sense logic of my statement above, it would be nice to have the situation with real ale pints at £1.79 Mon to Wed and £1.99 on other days fully clarified with Wetherspoons.
Clearly, the abv will dictate a minimum price in Scotland for each pint and shouldn't the consumer know what that price actually is?

I was told by a staff member at Cambuslang Spoons that the 50p vouchers could not be used on £1.99 guest ales, but could be used on any ales from £2 upwards?
I shall ask the manager at East Kilbride his views on this policy.

Following up my comment with regard to the imposition of MUP, I dropped into my local Wetherspoons today for a pint and could not use my 50p off voucher. Despite the price shown of £1.99, I was charged £1.79 with the reason given that it was an early week promotion, explaining that the charge from Thursday to Sunday would be £1.99. This is because the cheaper pubs EK and Cambuslang, with the 50p appled, would be outwith the law. Clearly, the MUP could cause a little confusion at the cheaper end of the pub market, particularly if English customers turn up expecting to use their CAMRA vouchers.
