CAMRA says the Scottish Government should compensate Glasgow pubs for lost beer.

Cask ale bought by pubs in anticipation of opening last Monday may have to be thrown away before city's pubs can open their doors for inside sales

The First Minister's announcement that Glasgow would remain in "Level 3" for another week delivers a particularly severe blow to pubs stocking real ale. The ale conditioned in cellars for the previously announced 17 May opening will not be fit to serve when these pubs can finally open.
Commenting on the announcement CAMRA's Scotland Director Joe Crawford said the Scottish Government should step in and compensate these pubs. Glasgow's pubs will also need financial help to cope with yet another week of lost trade, especially when many have re-hired staff in anticipation of re-opening.
Pubs that have had an incredibly difficult 14 months desperately need to start getting money through the tills again. For consumers, it is equally important that people can get back to their local and start enjoying the social and wellbeing benefits of a pint back down the pub as soon as possible.
