Alan Watson

Branch members were saddened to hear of the recent death of Alan Watson. Alan was a founder member of our branch back in 1974 when, along with a group of fellow campaigners, he organised the inaugural meeting in the Golf Inn, Bishopton. For the next few years the group battled hard to establish decent beer outlets in the real ale desert that was Glasgow in those days. Alan went on to chair the branch for several years. Russell Burt and Hugh Stevenson penned a tribute to Alan in this month's What's Brewing. It concluded: "Never short of a story or three, Alan was a very funny man and will be sorely missed...everyone who knew him should remember him with a smile on their face."
